Heart Opening Cacao Elixir
Can you see the crescent moon in this beauty elixir? This makes me smile.
I love cacao because, well, it is CHOCOLATE.
I enjoy consuming raw organic cacao in the form of drinks because I get to have it without any refined sugars. Cacao is high in calming magnesium, supports feel good chemicals and boosts brain power. If you can, opt for cacao or cocoa, which is processed at high temperatures reducing the nutrients. Feeling sad? Whip up this warm drink for more serotonin and tryptophan. If you have sacred ceremonial cacao, you can use this too. Just ensure to honour and appreciate this plant medicine.
“Raw cacao is rich in a phytonutrient known as a flavonol. Flavonols have been shown in numerous studies to improve blood flow to the brain. When you improve blood flow, and therefore oxygen to the brain, researchers have seen significant improvements in mental focus and attention span.”
Ingredients
1 tbsp organic raw cacao (I like this brand as they test for heavy metals)
2 tsp coconut manna (butter)
1 tsp rose water, optional
1/2 tsp organic cayenne
1 tsp chaga, fruiting body
1 tsp true organic cinnamon
optional, a little maple syrup. The ceremonial cacao I use is so smooth, I don’t need any sweetener
Blend all ingredients with recently boiled water, not boiling. Enjoy this frothy chocolate-y drink! A healthy alternative to your morning coffee or an afternoon pick me up. I often add Nuit almond butter instead of coconut butter - use whatever fat you like.
